Ballast Nedam has secured a contract worth €250m from wpd for the engineering, supply and installation of 80 foundations at the Butendiek offshore wind farm in Germany.
The wind farm is located 32km west of the German island Sylt, in German Bight at a water depth of 17-22m.
80 turbines of 3.6MW each amounting to 288MW in total will be equipped at the offshore wind farm.
The company will employ its heavy-lift vessel Svanen for the installation of the foundations, which include a steel tubular monopile and a transition piece.
Work for the design and fabrication of the foundations is expected to begin next year and the installation is scheduled for 2013.
