There were nine persons on board the barge, owned by PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH), when the incident happened. Indonesian authorities have since rescued 6 persons (2 Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian, 1 Dutch, 1 Filipino, 1 Indonesian) and recovered 3 bodies (1 Singaporean, 1 Chinese, 1 Myanmar national).
It was reported that the semi-submersible barge was carrying out submerging trials at the time of the incident.
As the Flag Administration of POSH MOGAMI, MPA said it was investigating the cause of the incident with the relevant authorities.
