The leading provider of multipurpose and heavy lift shipping services, German based BBC Chartering, announces to strengthen its presence in the Australian market by establishing a local representation in Western Australia, effective November 1, 2012.
Expanding BBC Chartering’s activities in Australia, the new branch office aims to improve services with a focus on offshore and mining projects in the region and offers clients a direct access to the global shipping services of BBC Chartering.
The new representation marks the 28th global presence in BBC Chartering’s commercial network and will be headed by Mr. Chris Schraa as Business Development Manager. Mr. Schraa adds value to clients bringing in comprehensive experiences as offshore installation manager with a strong nautical background. Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering says, “It is important for BBC Chartering to strengthen its presence in one of the most important regions for mining and LNG projects in the world. Here we like to support clients with tailor made shipping solutions.”
In a recent assignment BBC Chartering’s ‘Project Division’ has demonstrated its capabilities for the ‘Macedon Gas Project’ in the Pilbara region offshore Western Australia. As transport provider to McDermott’s first SURF (Subsea, Umbilical, Riser and Flowlines) contract in Australia, BBC Chartering’s work scope included transport engineering, execution and delivery of a 48-mile-long (77-kilometer-long) subsea umbilical which is being installed in water depths measuring up to 591 feet (180 meters).
Leading energy and mining firms have embarked on projects in Western Australia. With more than half a dozen liquefied natural gas projects planned or under construction, experts claim that Australia can rival Qatar as energy exporter.
