Bosch Group to Build Solar Manufacturing Plant in Malaysia

Bosch Group plans to invest €520m to construct a new solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant in the Batu Kawan region in Penang, Malaysia.

The plant is expected to have an annual solar plant output of 640MWp and solar module production line capacity of 150MWp.

Bosch Solar Energy Chairman Holger von Hebel said the plant facility will cover the entire value-added chain, from silicon crystals, known as ingots, and solar cells to the modules that can be installed on roofs or in solar power plants.

Construction of the plant is expected to start this year and is scheduled to be complete in 2014; production will start up by the end of 2013.
