BP Wind Energy has entered into a $750m agreement with General Electric for the supply and maintenance of 350 wind turbines units in the US.
When operational, the BP wind projects will have a combined power generation of 560MW.
BP's 144MW Mehoopany Wind Farm located in Pennsylvania will receive 88 turbine units, while the 419MW Flat Ridge 2 Wind Farm located in south-central Kansas will receive 262 units.
Both projects are expected to be operational by 2012.
Initial site construction work on both the projects is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2011, subject to all necessary approvals.
BP Wind Energy, as operator, holds a 100% interest in both the Mehoopany and the Flat Ridge 2 wind farms.
