China: Qingshan Shipyard Launches Bulk Carrier for FESCO Group


China’s Qingshan Shipyard launched the forth and latest vessel in a series of bulk cargo carriers for the transport group FESCO, the Russian operator said.

The FESCO Stavropol has a deadweight of 57,000 tons, LOA – 189.99 m, breadth – 32.26 m, depth – 18 m, draft – 12.8 m, five cargo holds capacity – 71.5 cbm. The vessel is equipped with four electro-hydraulic cranes of lifting capacity of 30 tons each.

The ship is constructed to according to the CSR updated rules for bulkers. FESCO’s team of experts is constantly monitoring the construction process. After a certain stage of construction at Qingshan, the vessel will undergo refitting, tests and sea trials at the shipyard in the port of Shanghai. Acceptance of ship is scheduled for early 2012.

FESCO Group has booked orders for 4 dry bulk carriers. The first ship of the series, FESCO Saratov, was commissioned by the Group in July 20, 2011. Delivery of the second vessel, FESCO Simferopol, is scheduled for late October 2011. The third ship, FESCO Smolensk, expects sea trials in November 2011.

Transport Group FESCO, formed on the basis of Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO), is a Russian container operator. The Group owns a fleet of more than 1 million deadweight tons. The Group’s own container fleet exceeds 50,000 TEUs. The combined throughput of FESCO’s port facilities is more thant1.6 million TEUs.
