VLF test sets

b2 electronic offers a comprehensive range of VLF (AC - 0.1Hz) test sets from 30kV up to 200kV of remarkably small dimensions and weight. With our HVA series, cables up to 138kV can be tested, making this VLF technology also an outstanding alternative to the extremely bulky and expensive resonance test sets (50Hz) for high-voltage cables. Apart from their variable frequency VLF output, the operator can also select dual polarity DC. Our VLF test sets are dry-type test systems (they have no oil filled components), which would otherwise require routine maintenance and limit operational time.

The HVA series are controlled from large full LCD displays and can be programmed to suit almost any customer-specific routine. The LCD displays also provide for measurement of output voltage and current as well as load capacitance, insulation resistance, test time, all together with a unique oscilloscope feature that displays HV output waveform and so any point of breakdown on the waveform during testing.

True symmetrical sinusoidal, load independent output waveforms across the full load are the prerequisite for our VLF system upgrade to a cable diagnostic system, such as tan delta or partial discharge.

Tan delta and partial discharge diagnostic equipment

Tan delta measurement is a proven, simple and reliable test method for confirming the dielectric condition of cables or other electrical plant and infrastructure. 'Water-tree' damaged cables can be easily and clearly identified. The ease of use, low weight and the compact, elegant design is truly impressive.

The HVA series VLF test sets serve as the ideal high-voltage source for these TD units.

Partial discharge measurements have traditionally been carried out in a noise-free environment such as a Faraday cage. In the past this made on-site PD measurement impossible. With the advent of modern electronics and digital filtering, it is now possible to effectively carry out partial discharge measurements in an electrical substation. By locating these PD sites promptly, corrective measures can be taken before the cable fails thus avoiding power failures and customer minutes lost.

Dielectric oil test sets

For measuring modern silicon, mineral and ester oils a very fast switch-off time after flash over is crucial. The b2 electronic breakdown analyser (BA-series) has the fastest switch-off time on the market (<5µs).

With the PC software 'BA Control Center' individual test procedures can be programmed and several units can be controlled and overviewed simultaneously. Test results are available in printed form, as pdf and as text files.

The unit has a USB flash drive and Bluetooth connectivity for communications between the test unit and the PC.
