CWE Holds Talks for Hydro Dam Project in Guinea

Guinea is holding talks with China International Water & Electric (CWE) for the construction of the Kaleta dam in Guinea, to increase the power generation in the nation.

The Guinea Energy Minister Papa Koly Kourouma said the country is reviewing state-owned utility Electricite de Guinee, and tariffs for power and water.

Kourouma also added that Guinea is planning to invest $100m in February 2012 to upgrade electricity grids to improve transmission, reports Bloomberg.

Construction of the 240MW dam is expected to be built 150km north-east of Conakry, and will begin by the end of this year.
