Danish Maritime Authority: Time for Renewal of Bunker and CLC Certificates

In most cases Bunker and CLC Certificates expire on 20 February 2013 and lose their validity after that date. Consequently, shipowners should apply to the Danish Maritime Authority for renewal of certificates well before their expiry.

Bunker Certificate

Bunker Certificates cover civil liabilty for bunker oil damages. All vessels with a gross tonnage of 1000 or above must hold a certificate. The Danish Maritime Authority issues certificates based on applications from shipowners, and applications should provide information on, i.a., the vessels’ insurance.

CLC Certificate

CLC Certificates cover the civil liability for oil damages. All vessels carrying more than 2,000 tonnes of persistent oil in bulk as cargo must hold a certificate. The Danish Maritime Authority issues certificates based on applications from shipowners, and applications should provide information on, i.a., the vessels’ insurance.
