Duke Energy to Construct 200MW Wind Farm in the US

Duke Energy plans to construct the 200MW Los Vientos I wind power project in Texas, US, and sell the power generated from the plant to CPS Energy.

CPS Energy has signed a 25-year agreement to purchase the power and associated renewable energy credits generated by the plant.

The project will be built on 30,000 acres of leased land and will generate enough electricity to power approximately 60,000 homes.

Construction of the plant is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of this year and begin commercial operations by December 2012.
