The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) has selected Electric Transmission Texas (ETT) for the development of competitive renewable energy zone (CREZ) projects worth $1.4bn in west Texas, US.

ETT has executed master agreements with three construction firms, the Quanta Services, MYR Group and TIC Holdings to provide transmission and infrastructure services, which include construction of 450 miles of transmission lines and facilities.

The company has also contracted engineering and environmental consultant URS as the programme manager for the CREZ projects.

ETT has received approval from PUCT to develop the projects and expects to acquire the rights-of-way from property owners over the next 18 months.

ETT is a joint venture company formed between subsidiaries of American Electric Power (AEP) and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company.
