General Electric has entered into a long-term services agreement with Comisión Federal de la Electricidad (CFE), to provide support services for six gas turbines recently installed at Manzanillo Thermoelectric plant in Mexico.
CFE is the federal electricity commission of Mexico.
Under the 15-year and $200m contract, GE will be responsible for supplying parts, repairs and field services for maintenance outages of gas turbines and generators.
Six GE Frame 7FA Gas Turbines have replaced two conventional boilers, currently operating on fuel oil at the Manzanillo site, increasing plant efficiency by 50%.
The first three turbines will be commissioned by the end of the year and the full plant is expected to be running by 2012.
Once operational, the plant will add 900MW of power to the CFE grid and bring the total site output to 1,500MW.
