GE Energy sees rising demand from Russian industries for on-site gas-fired power generation

With more Russian industries turning to on-site power technologies to reduce their operational costs and increase their energy security, GE Energy sees an increasing demand for its Jenbacher cogeneration units.

Teplichnoe, a state-owned vegetable supplier, is GE's latest Russia customer to order three GE natural gas-fired, ecomagination-qualified Jenbacher cogeneration units for installation at its greenhouse production facilities in city of Saransk.

The three of GE's 1-MW J320 Jenbacher gas engines will power at Teplichnoe's new energy center. Operational start of cogeneration facility is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012.

GE will transport its Jenbacher units to the site in Saransk during the second quarter of 2012.

"The design for the new Teplichnoe cogeneration plant will utilize a design that offers capacity for future expansion," a GE Energy spokesman said. The Teplichnoe project is supported by ZAO INTMA, one of GE's authorized distributors for Jenbacher gas engines in the Russian Federation.

GE's Jenbacher cogeneration units enable industrial customers to generate reliable electricity and heat supply at the point of use through its comprehensive suite of distributed power solutions ranging in size from 119 kilowatts to 100 MW.
