Germany’s Oldendorff Carriers has declared the options for further two 36,000 deadweight handysize bulkers from the Korean owned Samjin Weihai Shipyard in Shandong Province, China.
The two Units are exact repetitions of the first two ordered in June 2012 and are scheduled for delivery mid/end 2014. The ships will be built based on an economical design and equipped with fuel saving features such as a Mewis duct and boss cap fins and as a result the ships are expected to consume about 21.25 metric tonnes HFO at a full speed of 13.8 knots in laden condition and 14.5 knots in ballast condition.
Furthermore the vessels will be fitted with log fittings, four 40 metric tonnes cranes and a uniform tank top strength of 25 mt per square meter, making the ships very versatile and deployable in various trades around the globe.
