Geronimo Wind Energy has signed a long-term renewable energy purchase agreement with Xcel Energy to buy 200MW of wind energy from its Prairie Rose Wind Farm in the US.
The project, located in the Rock and Pipestone Counties, Minnesota, will consist of 125 wind turbines commissioned in an area of 25,000 acres.
The plant will be capable of generating energy, which is sufficient to power 60,000 homes.
Xcel Energy has filed a contract with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission seeking an approval for the agreement.
Construction of the project is expected to begin by the end of this year and is slated for completion by the end of 2012.
