Domestic electric cooperative Golden Vallery Electric Association (GVEA) has approved the construction of 24MW Eva Creek wind project in Alaska, US.
GVEA said the wind project will be the largest wind project in Alaska.
The plant is expected to generate 20% of the system's peak load from renewable sources by 2014.
The GVEA board has selected REPower as the turbine manufacturer and is yet to select plant contractors to work on the project.
The plant is expected to begin operations by September 2012.
