India Completes Study to Build Coal-Fired Plant in Bangladesh

India has completed a feasibility study for the planned construction of a 1.3GW coal-fired power plant in Khulna, Bangladesh.

Work is also underway to build transmission connectivity, which will enable Bangladesh to import 500MW of electricity from India.

A total of 250MW will be available by the end of 2012 or early 2013.

Bangladesh also plans to import 1GW of power from India, Nepal and Bhutan in order to triple its power generation capacity to 15.35GW by the end of 2015.
