Italy: Rosetti Marino Delivers New AHTS Vessel to Augusta Offshore

On Saturday 8th September 2012, Rosetti Marino christened and delivered AHTS Asso Trentuno (ex hull n. C.107) to Shipowner and Operator AUGUSTA OFFSHORE SpA based in Naples, Italy, a member of the CA.FI.MA. shipping group owned by the Cafiero-Mattioli family .

This Anchor Handling Tug Supply, a UT 712 CD Rolls-Royce design, is a multipurpose vessel specialised in the positioning of offshore oil drilling rigs in deep waters and can operate at a water depth of up to 2,500 m.

It has an overall length of 79.70 m., a moulded breadth of 19.20 m., a depth of 8.30 m. and a design draft of 6.30 m. The vessel is driven by 2 (two) 6L32 + 2 (two) 8L32 Wartsila engines producing a total power of 14000 kW (approx. 19,000 hp – the maximum power ever installed on this type of ship in Italy).

The building of this ship further confirms Rosetti Marino’s know-how in this particular field. Sea trials produced extraordinary results – even better than anticipated. A top speed of 17.8 knots was reached and the bollard pull was 220 t., a result which had never before been achieved in Italy for an AHTS.

The main feature of ASSO TRENTUNO is its winch which has a dynamic pull of 500 t. The vessel has also successfully fulfilled all the Rina Class notation requirements such as dynamic positioning, onboard noise and vibration comfort and, above all, “Green Star 3″ recognition for respecting the standards in environmental protection for prevention against air and sea pollution.

Augusta Offshore, part of the CA.FI.MA group, helmed by Mario Mattioli, is specialised in the support of offshore drilling rigs, including towing, anchor-handling and positioning, transport of crew and supply of material. It also provides services such as fire-fighting, anti-pollution etc.

In the past few years Augusta has decided to invest in the renewal and improvement of its fleet in line with market development and requirements. These vessels will able to carry out operations in even deeper waters and for this precise reason, the Shipowner has placed a new order with Rosetti Marino for a new AHTS (hull n. C. 112)- Asso Trentuno’s sister ship – which will be delivered in October 2014.

The Godmother of the Christening Ceremony which was held at the Rosetti Marino San Vitale shipyard in Ravenna, Italy was Francesca Mattioli, Mario Mattioli’s daughter.
