JKX Oil & Gas (LON:JKX) yesterday morning confirmed that gas production is now underway from well 27 at the Koshekhablskoye field, Russia.
Gas is now flowing from the well to the field’s processing facility. And JKX says its production testing work is now being carried out. It explained that the reservoir response will be closely monitored before output is ramped up the production plateau rate.
"This is an important step towards achieving the planned capacity of the plant following the setbacks in putting our high performance wells into production in the second quarter of the year," said chief executive Dr Paul Davies.
The start-up in production had been delayed due to mechanical problems and the well, which was originally drilled back in 2009, had to be sidetracked and re-completed. Previously the well was tested at 13.1 million cubic feet per day.
JKX says that it is now moving the drill rig on to well 20, which is also being worked over and re-completed.
