Maersk Broker Signs Strategic Cooperation Memorandum with China Development Bank


On June 27 2011 in Athens, Maersk Broker and China Development Bank (CDB) signed a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum aiming to strengthen the cooperation within

vessel newbuilding and other maritime related financial services.
CDB is one of largest commercial banks in China that powers China's economic development policies while under the direct jurisdiction of the State Council. Maersk Broker - one of the largest international ship broking companies - have a long history and substantial business for many years in China. This Memorandum aims to further enhance the existing close and productive relationship between the two companies.
While the Cooperation Memorandum will give priority on shipfinance support for shipping projects recommended by Maersk Broker, the Memorandum will also include the establishment of working groups to enhance existing cooperation spanning market intelligence exchanges, cross training and regular joint marketing to promote maritime related projects in an effort to better service the core clients of the respective two companies.
This Memorandum marks a mutual effort to compliment the core strengths of both organisations enabling tangible value adding not only for the Chinese shipbuilding industry but for the global shipowning community in general.
