Maersk Line is pleased to announce the launch of the Rumba service, creating a unique, direct link between India, Middle East, Mediterranean and East Coast South America.
Brazil and India are two of the fastest growing economies in the world right now, and with this new service Maersk Line will further facilitate the growth and warm relationship between the two countries. The service will furthermore add a number of other direct connections and best in class transit times.
Anders Hedegaard Koksbang, Vice President, Maersk Line says: “With this service we are offering our customers a unique product and we anticipate that particularly the link between India and South America will receive a lot of positive attention. With an unequalled reliability and wide port coverage we are providing customers fast access to most markets and hence facilitate growth within and between these vibrant economies.”
Globally, Maersk Line has consistently captured top spots for schedule reliability and this will also be a trade mark for Rumba. The service will deploy 11x4500 teu vessels with the following rotation:
Jebel Ali – Jawaharlal Nehru – Jeddah – Genoa – Barcelona – Algeciras – Tangier – Santos – Itajai – Paranagua – Montevideo – Rio Grande – Santos – Algeciras – Valencia – Jeddah – Salalah – Jebel Ali.
Rumba service highlights:
• Unique, direct service between India/Middle east and South America
• Best in class transit time between South America-Middle East and West Central Asia-Mediterranean
• Wide port coverage and connection to the Maersk Line network
• Unmatched on time delivery in a complex and infrastructural challenged market
• Over 1000 plugs per sailing making it ideal for the meat and poultry market from Brazil to Middle East
The first westbound call is from Jebel Ali on 31 July with Maersk Danville.
The first eastbound call is from Itajai on 28 July with Laust Maersk.
