MAN Diesel & Turbo Adds Two-Stroke Licensee

MAN Diesel & Turbo added another two-stroke licensee to its roster at a signing ceremony in China on June 15 with CSSC Guangzhou Marine Engine Co. Ltd. (GMD).

An offshoot of the state-owned CSSC Group, GMD is based close to the major Chinese city of Guangzhou and the special administrative region of Hong Kong, and will produce 3 million hp worth of engines in an initial building period. Construction will take place at a purpose-built facility that will begin production at the beginning of 2012.

“We are delighted to add yet another member to our licensee family,” said Klaus Engberg, senior vice president of two-stroke licensing for MAN Diesel & Turbo. “GMD will be ideally placed to supply prime movers to this important market segment and we look forward to a fruitful partnership in the future.”
