According to The Hindu, the Merolyn Engineering Works Pvt Ltd is in the race to supply six dredgers worth $600 million (nearly Rs 3,300 crore) to Bangladesh.
Kakoli Mitra, the Managing Director of Merolyn, a Kolkata-based company, stated that along with Dutch shipbuilder IHC Merwede and infrastructure major Royal Infraconstru Ltd, Merolyn already bid for two tenders, one each by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority and the Mongla Port.
“We are gearing up for the third tender by the Bangladesh Water Development Board for two dredgers to be held on August 28,” Mitra said.
The Hindu reports that the Bangladesh Government would use $600 million of the $1-billion loan by EXIM Bank of India to procure these dredgers.
According to their official website, the Merolyn is looking forward for more Pontoon Gangway jetties for West Bengal Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd., Ganga Heritage Cruise jetties for West Bengal Tourism, Power ferry launches for West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation Ltd and Coastal Barges for GRSE, Indian Navy and Waterbus(Catamaran).
