Metito has announced its latest project in Iraq worth more than US$9 million.
“Iraq is striving to improve infrastructure across the whole country which will create interesting opportunities for the water sector”, insisted Mustafa Hasan, General Manager of Metito Jordan, Iraq and Syria. In fact, Iraq is continuing to move forward with its strategic plans to invest in infrastructure which was clearly reflected in its commitment to invest US$5.3 billion in new projects over the next two years. From such commitment, stems great prospects for the Water and Waste Water Industry and Metito is at a position to leverage its experience, local presence and global knowhow to foster these valuable opportunities.
Metito has recently been awarded a large scale project in Iraq and the Group is adamant to make this project yet another venue through which it can play a role in supporting the great efforts being invested in developing this strategic country.
Keen to enrich its existing portfolio, Metito’s work on this project will see the Group join forces with Balad Al Khebra to upgrade the main Freeha Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in the holy city of Karbala, located approximately 100km South-West of Baghdad. Upon completion in Q4 2012, the development works will see the plant capacity increased to accommodate 60,000m3 of effluent per day.
