Metso to Supply 100MW Biomass Boiler to GREC

Metso will supply a 100MW biomass boiler island and plant automation system to Gainesville Renewable Energy Center (GREC) in Florida, US.

GREC has secured $500m to finance the construction of the project, which will supply power to Gainesville Regional Utilites, under a 30-year power purchase agreement.

Fagen will be responsible for the construction of the plant, which is scheduled to commence commercial operations in 2013. < /p>

The boiler, based on bubbling fluidised bed technology, will provide clean electricity for approximately 70,000 homes in Florida.
