Eco Marine Power (EMP) has taken a major step towards bringing its sustainable shipping technologies to the market by announcing today that it has entered into a commercial agency agreement with MIE Company Ltd (MIE) of Greece.
Under the terms of the agreement, MIE will promote solutions and products by Eco Marine Power to Greek shipowners starting with the Aquarius Management & Automation System which will be released in September, 2013.
The Aquarius Management and Automation System or Aquarius MAS is based upon the reliable and robust KEI 3240 Data Logger platform – a marine computer system which is already in service on hundreds of vessels including tug boats, container ships and bulk ore carriers.
The Aquarius MAS will be able to monitor the performance of a wide range of equipment on ships including main engines, auxiliary generators, pumps and temperature sensors. In addition it can be integrated with renewable energy technologies including solar panels, wind power devices & energy storage modules or batteries.
The Aquarius MAS will also include functions to monitor vessel emissions and fuel use plus it will be able to record a wide range of data which can be analyzed and used to improve fuel efficiency.
Nicholas Kolliarakis, MD of MIE expressed his pleasure for the collaboration with Eco Marine Power and commented: “In an era, where we have all come to realise the significance of our planet’s well being and the actions we need to take to protect it, new, green and valuable solutions are in the forefront of MIE’s strategic planning. We’d like to welcome Eco Marine Power to our family, the biggest shipping market in the globe and work together for our seas.”
Greg Atkinson of Eco Marine Power commented “This agreement with MIE Company Ltd will allow EMP to promote our innovative marine technologies to the biggest shipping market in the world. These technologies will reduce fuel use and noxious gas emissions thereby contributing to a greener marine future for shipping. ”
