Minnesota Power has submitted a plan to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission for the construction of the 105MW Bison 3 wind project in North Dakota, US.
The $157m Bison 3 project will be located at Oliver and Morton Counties in central North Dakota.
Minnesota Power said the project will be built near the company's Bison 1 and 2 wind project, and will be equipped with 33 wind turbines.
The 82MW Bison 1 project is half complete and the second phase is expected to become operational by the end of 2012.
The 105MW Bison 2 wind will be built concurrently with Bison 3 and both of these projects are expected to come online by 2012.
The Bison 3, 2 and the second phase of the Bison 1 projects will use the direct-drive 3MW Siemens turbines.
The power generated from all three projects will be delivered through a direct transmission line, which extends 465 miles from North Dakota to the company's Arrowhead Substation near Duluth.
