The Port of Le Havre now accounts for the port of choice for the world’s top shipping lines. It received the maiden calls of three new ultra large containerships, Mars owned by China Shipping Container Line, Nevada by CMA CGM and Beryl by MSC. Ultra large box vessel calls, of capacity more than 10,000-TEU up to 14,000-TEU, on this trade at Le Havre now stand at 230 in 2011.
Le Havre is strengthening its position with two departures a day to Asia provided by 19 shipping companies. Apart from 30 services connecting 71 Asian ports it offers 8 to India as well.
Shipping lines have recorded 15-20% productivity increase at the port since the implementation of port reform 8 months ago. In addition, recent investment of TNMSC raised the confidence of private companies in the growth of Port of Le Havre.
