Pattern Energy Group and Samsung Renewable Energy have signed four separate power purchase agreements with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) to deliver 870MW of clean energy from wind power projects.
The projects will power more than 300,000 homes every year in Canada, the companies have announced.
Samsung C&T senior executive vice-president Cheol-Woo Lee said that together with its partners, Samsung has agreed to make a $7bn private sector investment in Ontario.
The power projects include the 270MW project farm in Chatham-Kent and 150MW of wind from the Grand Renewable Energy Park in Haldimand County.
Samsung and Pattern have also signed agreements to acquire and develop two other projects totaling 450MW.
