Maersk Drilling has signed a contract under which Petronas Carigali will be provided with the 375 ft HPHT (high pressure high temperature) jack-up rig MAERSK CONVINCER for work offshore Malaysia. The firm contract duration is one year and the contract also includes two one-year options.
The maximum contract value for the firm one-year period is approximately USD 51 million including mobilization fee. The contract is expected to commence at the beginning of the fourth quarter 2011 following a two-year survey scheduled to be carried out upon completion of the rig’s present contract in Vietnam.
“We are very pleased to enter into business with Petronas Carigali in Malaysia, one of the leading operators in Southeast Asia. We see this contract as a good opportunity to demonstrate our skills within HPHT drilling and we hope it can pave the way for strengthening our position in the flourishing Malaysian market,” says Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Drilling and member of the Executive Board of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group.
MAERSK CONVINCER is one of two BMC 375 jack-up rigs in Maersk Drilling’s fleet. The rig has been working in Southeast Asia since its delivery from Jurong Shipyard in 2008.
