PLN to Construct Gas-Fired Power Plants in Indonesia

Electricity company PT PLN plans to construct three gas-fired power plants with a total capacity of 4,500MW in Java, Indonesia.

PLN planning and technology director Nasri Sebayang told reporters in the area that each plant will generate around 1,500MW of power and consume around 750 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

The plants will require an investment of about $2.3bn and the company is seeking gas supply for the proposed power plants, reports the Jakarta Post.

Construction work is expected to begin in 2014 and commercial operations will start in 2017 or 2018.
