RES Americas completes 227.5MW wind farm project

Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES Americas) has completed the 227.5MW Crossroads wind farm in the US state of Oklahoma.

The wind farm, owned by Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E), includes 95 Siemens 2.3MW turbines and three Siemens 3.0MW direct-drive turbines.

The project, located in Dewey County, is set to provide enough electricity to power about 70,000 average households and is expected to reduce about 400,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

OG&E vice president of Retail Energy Jesse Langston said the firm can meet about 10% of its customers energy needs with wind generation upon completion of the project.

"We appreciate the support RES Americas provided to help us achieve this milestone" said Langston.

The company has invested millions during the development and construction phases of the wind farm.

RES Americas also served as the balance of plant contractor, maintaining construction rights when it sold the project to OG&E in August last year.
