Russia: Transas Develops Simulation Model of World’s Largest VLOC

Transas Marine has developed a ship model of a 400,000 DWT Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC), the largest bulk carrier in the world.

The model was developed for Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM).

With advanced visualization engine in Transas Navigational Simulator and high fidelity modelling effects of Transas’ Virtual Ship Yard modelling software, new VLOC model guarantees a realistic perception of seafaring conditions.

So officers are thoroughly prepared for forthcoming ship management and manoeuvring, getting the experience of the vessel’s behaviour in various conditions. The highly-realistic behaviour of the VLOC model is based on an extensive set of manoeuvring data provided by BSM.

The VLOC model was developed for BSM Training Centre for Advanced Learning, located in India.

Training with this VLOC model will vastly improve understanding and confidence of the officers who plan to serve on this category of ships“, – comments Mr. Ravi Budhraja, the representative of the BSM Training Centre for Advanced Learning.

In June, 2011 Transas Marine has been chosen by Telaccount Overseas Ltd. as a partner for BSM’s ECDIS retrofit program. Moreover, Transas has created dedicated virtual exercise areas for special BSM training purposes.
