Ruston RK215 and RK270 are two models of diesel engines made by Ruston & Hornsby, a British engineering company that is now part of the Siemens group. Both engines were popular in marine and industrial applications during the mid-20th century.
The Ruston RK215 is a six-cylinder, two-stroke diesel engine with a bore of 215mm and a stroke of 280mm. It was first introduced in 1958 and was used in a variety of marine and industrial applications, such as power generation, cargo ships, and fishing boats. The RK215 had a power output of up to 1,200 horsepower (895 kW) and was known for its reliability and durability.
The Ruston RK270 is a larger version of the RK215, with a bore of 270mm and a stroke of 350mm. It was introduced in 1963 and was used in a range of applications, such as cargo ships, ferries, and offshore oil rigs. The RK270 had a power output of up to 2,700 horsepower (2,012 kW) and was known for its high power-to-weight ratio and efficient fuel consumption.
Both the Ruston RK215 and RK270 were popular engines during their time and were known for their reliability and durability. However, as more advanced diesel engines were developed, production of these engines eventually ceased.
