SPP Shipbuilding books 20 MR PCs


Market sources said that SPP Shipbuilding (SPP) has lately booked orders for 20 MR product carriers (PCs) in big numbers.It emerged that SPP has obtained orders for two ships

from Ardmore of Ireland, two from Socatra of France, six from Latin America, ten from Europe and Asia, in total, orders for twenty ships of all 50,000-dwt class PCs worth US$ 760m.
A market insider analyzed SPP’s success, saying: “With only a few orders booked for 30,000 to 50,000 dwt MR PCs on the ongoing world-market, SPP’s orders secured in large numbers are surprising achievements rarely seen these days. This is a result of SPP’s competitiveness globally recognized on the strength of its concentration made on building MR PCs.”
Meantime SPP is upgrading ship’s fuel efficiency by making an aggressive investment in R&D for green ships. As of Aug. 1, SPP has backlog orders on hand for 146 vessels worth US$ 5.5b.
