When it comes to cargo handling equipment Finnish company Cargotec surely secured an enviable position in the maritime and offshore industry providing integrated cargo flow solutions.
Referring to a recent equipment order that Cargotec had received from Ignazio Messina & C. S.p.A., World Maritime News staff asked Cargotec to tell us something more about their previous collaboration with the Italian shipping specialist.
As informed by the company, in 2009 Cargotec’s RoRo business line cooperated with Ignazio Messina & C.S.p.A. and was involved in the development of a new type of multi-purpose vessel, a RoRo/Containership (ConRo), post-Panamax. The vessel fulfills the most modern technical and ecological requirements. Cargotec received a contract to design and supply efficient tailor-made MacGregor cargo handling equipment. MacGregor cargo access equipment for four ConRo vessels was ordered to be built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company (DSME), in South Korea.
