TCC, Imabari Sign Shipbuilding Contract (China)


TCC agreed with Sumitomo Corporation as Contractor and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. as Builder to build one vessel of D/W 76,500 M.T. Type Bulk Carrier at a competitive price. The delivery of the vessel is expected to take place around June 2014. TCC also secured one optional contract for an identical vessel.

Imabari ranks among the leading international shipbuilders of large bulk carriers with modern designs, high construction qualities and state-of-the-art technologies. The newbuilding vessels are designed with high specifications and structural standards to support optimum cargo intake and efficient fuel consumption; and to comply with the latest environmental regulations installing Ballast Water Treatment System (“BWTS”) and carrying NK Class “IHM” notation.

With new orders in Japan, TCC’s newbuilding fleet renewal program in the bulk carrier segment is well underway.

The official signing of the ship newbuilding contract took place on September 14, 2012 at Conrad Hong Kong with the presence of top and senior representatives of TCC Group, Imabari and Sumitomo and the HKSAR Government.
