Canada-based Teekay has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Denmark's A2SEA to design a vessel for the installation of offshore wind foundations.
The companies will jointly develop a floating transportation and installation vessel, which will meet the requirements of future offshore wind farm foundation concepts, like tripods and jackets.
A2SEA's knowledge of offshore wind farm installation and Teekay's experience of operating large vessels will combine to develop the vessel.
The companies are expected to deliver the vessel to the market by 2014 and if constructed, the vessel will be owned and operated by Teekay, while A2SEA will provide project management and operational expertise.
