Transiidikeskus wants to buy a terminal in the Riga Port

Businessman Anatoli Kanayev-owned Estonian company Transiidikeskus AS plans to buy a terminal in the Riga Free Port to cope with growing cargo volumes, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.

“We are considering the step of expanding outside Estonia, including the Riga port, very seriously,” said board chairman of Transiidikeskus Erik Laidvee. “Our cargo flows are constantly growing in a volume that will soon not fit into the existing Muuga CT container terminal.”
In the first half of this year, the volume of container cargo handled by AS Muuga CT, subsidiary of Transiidikeskuse AS, grew by 24%. The company’s managers forecast continuation of that growth trend that should lead to the best results in the terminal history.
In order to find extra space to handle the growing cargo volumes, the concerns is holding talks over buying a terminal in Riga Free Port that have reached decisive stage.
