Trelleborg Marine Systems has been awarded three contracts to supply fender systems to all three liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects on Queensland’s Curtis Island, Australia.
Having already been awarded the contracts to supply docking and mooring equipment and monitoring software earlier in the year, Trelleborg has now been chosen to supply the Queensland Curtis LNG, Gladstone LNG and Australia Pacific LNG projects with state-of-the-art SCN Super Cone and ANP Arch Fender Systems.
Richard Hepworth, President of Trelleborg Marine Systems, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the three contracts on Curtis Island and are looking forward to yet again working closely with John Holland Group to execute these demanding projects.
“The award of these contracts is testament to our unrivalled industry expertise and undisputed reputation as a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced, high-performance solutions.”
Queensland Curtis LNG is the world’s first project to turn coal seam gas into LNG. It is currently one of Australia’s largest capital infrastructure projects and will see an investment of over $20billion from 2010 to 2014, when it will provide cleaner hydrocarbon energy for export.
The development will expand QGC’s current coal seam gas production in the Surat Basin of southern Queensland and build a 540km network of buried natural gas pipeline, linking the gas fields to Gladstone. Finally, a natural gas liquefaction plant will be developed on Curtis Island, to convert the exploited gas to LNG for export.
Super Cones are the latest generation of ‘cell’ fender, with optimal performance and efficiency, renowned for their remarkable energy capacity, low reaction force and ability to withstand the impact of latest generation of container ships. The conical body shape makes the SCN very stable even at large compression angles, and provides excellent shear strength. With overload stops the Super Cone is even more resistant to over-compression.
Arch fenders are simple and rugged, providing reliable and trouble-free service for a wide variety of berths even under the most severe conditions. The AN-fender is a traditional rubber faced unit whilst the ANP-fender can be fitted with either UHMW-PE face pads or connected to a steel panel.
Trelleborg Marine Systems, part of Trelleborg Offshore & Construction, a business area of Trelleborg Group, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced fender systems. These high-performance solutions combine low reaction force and hull pressure with good angular performance and rugged construction. High performance fenders are used wherever demands are greatest: LNG and oil terminals, container quays, RoRo berths and bulk cargo facilities.
