UK: CWind Receives First of Three Offshore Wind Farm Support Vessels

CWind has taken delivery of the first of the three support vessels contracted to fulfil a deal with Siemens.

The CWind Alliance catamaran is an 18.5m multi-purpose ship built by CTruk Boats, it features a 20-tonne payload and an amphibious rescue pod.

The company will operate the vessels out of Ramsgate where they will work on the London Array offshore wind farm.

CWind said from six pre-qualified European companies invited to bid for the contracts it was the only British company to be selected by Siemens.

Siemens project manager for London Array Chris Randle said: “We first worked with CWind on Gunfleet Sands and were impressed with their approach offshore and their plans for the business. It’s important for us to have total confidence in the skippers, their crew and the quality of the vessels.”
