The preparation of the International Forum on Seafarer’s Education, Training and Crewing (ETC) proceeds. The organizing committee has received words of support from various leading organizations in the field of training and crewing of seafarers.
Giles Heimann, Secretary General of the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC) sent the greetings and wishes for a success to organizers and participants of the Forum. Being the largest International Association dedicated to employment affairs, with some 160 members, IMEC is keen to ensure the implementation and successful application of Best Practice in crewing, training and continued employment of seafarers worldwide.
IMEC looks forward to participating in this very important Forum which will allow to conduct open discussion and exchange of views among many of the key players in the maritime industry, not only for the region, but throughout the world. Representing Ship Owners and Managers in the negotiation of terms and conditions for seagoing staff and investing large sums of money into providing training opportunities for the seafarers of the future, IMEC is a proponent of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 and believes that through its implementation the sustainable future of manpower for the maritime industry will be maintained.
