US DOE Offers Loan to Solar Projects in California


The US Department of Energy has offered a loan commitment worth several billion dollars for the construction of three solar plants in California, US.

The 230MW Antelope Valley Solar Ranch 1 project, which received a $680m loan, will be equipped with inverters to produce electricity for 54,000 homes.

The US DOE granted a $1.88bn loan to the 550MW Desert Sunlight project being built in phases in Riverside County.

Meanwhile, the 550MW Topaz Solar project in San Luis Obispo County has received $1.93bn in financing.

First Solar will provide solar photovoltaic panels made from thin films of cadmium telluride to all three projects.
