Vestas receives 178MW wind turbine supply order in Canada

Denmark-based Vestas has secured an order to supply 99 turbines with a total capacity of 178MW for two wind-energy projects in south-western Ontario, Canada.

Under the deal, the company will supply V90-1.8MW turbines, which are scheduled to be delivered in second half of 2012 and commissioning expected by late 2012.

The contract also includes a five-year service and maintenance agreement, along with delivery and commissioning of the turbines.

The projects will be built under Ontario's feed-in tariff programme.

Vestas-Canadian Wind Technology president Martha Wyrsch said, "We look forward to bringing more clean energy to the grid. These projects will provide construction and maintenance jobs in Ontario and even more clean energy to the region. The V90-1.8MW, which is designed for areas with medium wind speeds, will provide enough electricity to power 60,000 Ontario homes."
