Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a 96MW order from Stena Renewable to deliver turbines for the Lemnhult wind farm projectin Vetlanda Municipality, Sweden.
Under the contract, Vestas will supply, install and commission 32 of the V112-3.0MW wind turbine units for the project.
The contract also includes a 15-year full scope service and maintenance agreement, AOM 5000, with production based availability warranty.
The V112-3.0MW turbine is designed for low and medium wind speeds and was available for commercial use in August 2010.
Delivery and installation of the turbines for the project will begin in August 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in April 2013.
The Lemnhult power plant will become one of Sweden's largest projects and is another breakthrough for the V112 turbine in the Scandinavian market.
The Lemnhult plant is estimated to deliver a yearly production of approx 270GW of renewable energy.
Steen Mortensen, Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus, said the company is pleased to announce another major onshore order in Sweden.
"Stena Renewable is a very important partner for us in the Scandinavian region and we are very pleased they have selected us as supplier for this project in Lemnhult," he said.
The order is a significant stepping stone in the continued expansion of renewable energy in Sweden.
Göran Danielsson, Stena Renewable managing director, said the Stena Lemnhult wind farm is the company's largest investment to date.
"With almost 270GWh of yearly production, corresponding to 70% of total power demand in Vetlanda, the plant makes Vetlanda a leading renewable energy supplier among Sweden's municipalities," said Danielsson.
